Baltimore City GIS Mapping, Baltimore, MD
A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. provided GIS services for the City of Baltimore. Major task areas include:
- Edgematch Tiger Centerlines to the Planimetric Generated Centerlines - Edgematch the planimetric generated centerline data for the pilot area to the corresponding TIGER centerlines to the surrounding area (City of Baltimore land area). GIS Project Team members will utilized ARC/INFO skills to perform this task. It included approximately 105 1:40 scale and 2 1:100 scale maps along the perimeter of the pilot area. The actual number of streets involved is estimated at 225.
- Populate the Planimetric Centerline Database with Street Names - Populated the planimetric generated centerline attribute table created for the pilot area with the corresponding street name for each line segment. The street names contain any combination of the following four sub fields: prefix; name; type; and suffix. 8000 planimetric street centerline segments are in the pilot area.
- Link Parcels to the Planimetric Centerline Database - Established links between the individual parcels within the pilot area and the nearest centerline segment. Identified parcels along a given block and their corresponding centerline segments. 42,000 parcels within the pilot area were linked to planimetric centerline segments.
The resources used to fulfill this project included a combination of PC's, SPARCstations, and RISC 6000 workstations, multiple AutoCAD, Recognizer, ADCore ARC/INFO, ArcView and ArcCAD stations.
