On-Call Surveying Services, Fairfax County, Virginia

AMT is performing survey services on a multi-year on-call contract with the Fairfax County Department of Public Works. Surveying services include: preparation of easement plats, property plats, legal descriptions, field-run topographic surveys, hydrographic surveys, control surveys to establish Fairfax County Datum (Virginia State Plane North 83/93 and NGVD 1929), aerial mapping and digital orthometirc images, utility surveys, boundary surveys and construction stakeout.

A bound survey will be delivered upon completion including the following:

  • Deed research and tax map information
  • Field book sketches and notes
  • StarNET control adjustment
  • Traverse reference sketches
  • Coordinate list of all project points
  • Survey base sheet
  • Deed composite and property worksheet
  • CD containing electronic CAD files, DTM files and ASCII coordinate list

Task assignments include:

  • Washington Post Property - Computed, analyzed and determined the location of the southern property line of the Washington Post property and field staked the property line to assist in avoiding encroachments into the railroad right-of-way in conjunction with drainage improvements.
  • 8303 West Boulevard - Topographic survey of 0.7 acre for drainage improvements.
  • Manors - 5.6 acres topographic survey for a flood plain study.
  • Lake Royal - Topographic and hydrographic survey. Project area was +/- 38.8 acres. Water surface area was +/- 36.8 acres. Survey was to determine the amount of sediment build-up in the lake.
  • Kingstowne Baseline and Volumetric Survey - Hydrographic survey of six (6) wet ponds on Greendale Golf Course to determine if dredging was needed.
  • Route 7 and Fairfax County Parkway - Storm drain as-built survey of the large storm drain interceptor located in the cloverleaf of the Route 7 and Fairfax County Parkway interchange. Storm drain system was generally comprised of an 8" x 8' box culvert approximately 1, 500 linear feet long. Project required confined space entry practices.
  • 4210 and 4300 Kilbourne Drive - 0.7 acre topographic survey for drainage improvements.
  • Lake Royal Spillway Rehab - 10 acres topographic survey of the emergency spillway and surrounding area for Lake Royal.
  • Valley Lane - Topographic survey of approximately 1 acre for stormwater analysis purposes.
  • Woodglen Lake - Hydrographic and topographic survey to determine the amount of sediment in approximately 13 acre lake. Total project area for survey was approximately 22 acres.
  • Lake Barton - Hydrographic and topographic survey to determine the amount of sediment in approximately 9 acre lake. Total project area for survey was approximately 16 acres.
  • Mason District Park - 2.0 acres topographic and as-built survey for the design of stormwater planning and improvement projects.
