St. Mary's College New Academic Building, St. Mary's County, MD
A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. provided comprehensive civil engineering and landscape architecture services for the design of the new academic building located on the St. Mary's College campus. This project achieved LEED Silver Certification.
Services included the following:
- Site civil work related to utility extension to serve the complex surface pavement design which avoided development in inappropriate areas and minimized negative impacts to the environment.
- Storm drainage control design which required sediment and erosion controls, storm drainage collection system, and storm drainage treatment before being discharged from the site. Storm drainage controls were submitted and approved
for permitting by the Maryland Department of the Environment and Chesapeake Bay Critical Areas Commission.
- Low Impact Development - bioretention facility design that charges into the tidal water for quality treatment of stormwater in compliance with the Critical Areas Regulations.
