Regent Park Phase II Water Main Replacement/Relocation, Montgomery County, MD

Under BOA Contract Number PM00014A06, A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. prepared construction documents for the replacement of approximately 1.64 miles of water main and 142 water house service reconnections in 215NWO8. Above ground temporary water services were provided to effective customers.

AMT services included:

Alignment Approval: AMT walked the water main alignments and recommended replacement methods in conjunction with a site walk with WSSC. The location of water meters were identified. A letter report was developed, which provided recommendation for the replacement method for each water main alignment. The existing water mains and adjacent gas and utilities were located by AMT prior to the walk.

Community Outreach: AMT assisted WSSC in the preparation of exhibits, including a power point presentation for a community meeting with the Regency Estates Community Association.

Data Accumulation Evaluation: AMT obtained as-built drawings, 200 foot sheets, fire hydrant cards and valve cards from WSSC WebMap GIS application and water and sewer house connection information from WSSC Cadd1 website .

Geotechnical and Pavement Investigation: AMT obtained pavement cores to establish the thickness of existing pavement for restoration purposes.

Corrosion Investigation: The "Corrosion Survey Checklist" was completed in accordance with the WSSC Pipeline Design Manual. Corrosive soils did not exist.

Construction Documents: 70%, 100% and bid ready documents were prepared for bidding and construction purposes. Drawings were prepared in Auto CADD format and special provisions/bid documents were prepared utilizing MS Word. Those documents included:

Connection to existing utilities
Special restraint design
Water House Connection (WHC)
Sequence of construction
Fire Hydrant Table
Restoration Schedules
Traffic Control Plans in accordance with MCDPW requirements
Supplemental General Conditions, Special Conditions, Special Provisions

AMT will also provide bidding and construction phase services.

Other Water, Wastewater, and Utilities Projects
