On-Call Civil, Water and Wastewater Engineering - WASA
Washington, DC, Fairfax County, VA and Loudoun County, VA

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) has provided civil engineering, surveying, and water and wastewater engineering services associated with over $10 million worth of maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and new construction projects throughout the DC WASA System. Services have included review of existing topographic maps, existing property, tax and subdivision maps, applicable regulations, historic resource data, and standard specifications; locations of utilities; establishment/re establishment of baselines; development of design alternatives; cost estimates; preparation of preliminary plans/profiles; design of environmental controls and associated permitting; preparation of final plans and construction details; coordination with local DPW's and other agencies to assure jurisdictional design criteria compliance; preparation of construction sequencing/phasing plans; and preparation of traffic control plans.

Specific task assignments have included:

Five Odor Control Sites 31: Provided design, permitting, and bidding phase services to provide construction plans for the addition of well facilities to be various odor control sites throughout Loudoun and Fairfax Counties in Virginia. Facilities were required to provide a minimum flow of 7.5 gpm; be sited near to the proposed building; be built and permitted by the contractor from the plans and performance specification developed; be constructed to approximately 200 feet in depth; utilize unit pricing for depths greater than 200 feet; coordinate design with proposed building and other associated disciplines; and determine permitting requirements.

Four Tide Gate Sites: Provided survey, and permitting services to provide construction plans for (4) separate project sites to replace the existing wooden tide gates with "Duck Bill" valves on the outfalls to the Potomac River. The five (5) sites are Bolling Air Force Base; Anacostia Park (2 locations); 29th and K Streets; and 31st and K Streets.

Oxon Run Trunk Sewer Condition Assessment: Provided field inspection and coordination of condition assessment work along 7,500 linear feet and 37 manholes of the Oxon Run sewer.

Access for 48" Sewer Rehabilitation: Provided design of an approximately 1/2 mile gravel access road to a portion of the 48" Potomac Interceptor located in Loudoun County, Virginia and topographic surveys at designated locations along an inactive 48" sewer in Washington, DC.
