Dulles (IAD) Dedicated Fire Service and Utilities

AMT provided full civil engineering services in support of the New Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT). Services included the design of over 2,500 LF of Domestic Water Line extension, over 1,000 LF of Dedicated Fire Service (DFS) tying into planned DFS extensions by others, over 1,500 LF of gravity sanitary sewer line, and over 2,500 LF of Gas service line, site grading plans designed for both the existing conditions and future Tier 3 planned conditions, storm drainage plans, AOA fence and construction phasing plans.

Studies were prepared to determine alternatives for how the ATCT would connect into the future Airport sanitary sewer outfall system. The ATCT site design was coordinated with future Tier 3 design information to minimize future conflicts.

In addition, AMT designed the Power and Communication Duct Banks to service the ATCT. This includes over 16,500 LF of 6-way duct bank located throughout the Airport South Area. Plans, profiles and details were developed. Existing duct bank manholes were field located and evaluated to determine their condition and assessing the availability of spare conduits. Existing conduits were televised to determine their condition.
