Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia
AMT is developing plans for the widening of Eisenhower Avenue located west of Old Town Alexandria bounded by Telegraph Road (VA Route 611) and Duke Street (VA Route 236) to the north. Becoming a gateway to Alexandria, Eisenhower Avenue will be developed into a 33 foot roadway in each direction accommodating three travel lanes with the curb lane to be available for parking during off peak periods. Roadways will be separated by a wide tree lined park median with left turn bays and ranging in width from 30 feet to 36 feet between Holland Lane and Mill Road.
Sidewalks on Eisenhower Avenue will accommodate active pedestrian traffic. Also included is a ten foot wide bicycle path and a six foot planting strip.
