Danville Bypass, Danville, VA
A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. provided hydrologic/hydraulic analysis,
facility evaluation and design for seven (7) miles of new highway with interchanges located in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, for
the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Services commenced with Citizens Information meetings. AMT then performed Preliminary Investigation and Field Inspection to evaluate existing conditions of the project location and facilities. Services continued through Right-of-Way Acquisition and Final Design.
The design and analyses phases included but were not limited to:
- The design of open and closed drainage systems
- Stream diversions (permanent and temporary) due to roadway alignment and phasing of construction
- Stormwater management for quantity and quality control (23 locations). Stormwater management facilities included several wet and dry pond facilities
- HEC RAS/Channel computations for upstream/downstream impacts due to culvert installations
- Final report preparation and presentation
