Long Branch Stream Valley Trail Extension and Sidewalk Improvements: This project was an extension of an existing stream valley trail, including one bridge stream crossing and related trail facilities in the Long Branch Stream Valley Park. The trail extended the existing Rutherford Park trail at Marley Road upstream to Olley Lane, and from Guinea Road downstream to the existing trail at Candace Lane. Improvements for the project included 6,500 LF of 8 foot wide stonedust trail providing access from an existing trail from Rutherford Park at Marley Road to a sidewalk at Olley Lane and connecting an existing trail at Candace Lane to Guinea Road; 80 LF of new 5 foot wide concrete sidewalk within the existing right-of-way along the edge of the parking lot at Rutherford Park and connecting to Guinea Road; one 50 foot-long, 10-foot wide steel frame wood deck bridge, 100 LF of retaining walls on each side of Woodland Way to provide access for the trail from the street level into the stream valley; trail signage, pavement markings, and appropriate signalization at Guinea Road; and appropriate drainage improvements (including culverts), vehicle barriers and related trail and drainage details.
Rocky Run Trail Access: Design of asphalt surfacing of an existing stone stream valley trail, which extends from Longwood Lane to the existing trail west of Poplar Tree Elementary School, to allow for emergency access, as well as the replacement of one bridge stream crossing and related trail facilities in the Rocky Run Stream Valley Park. Planned improvements specifically include 775 linear feet of 6-foot wide asphalt on the existing stonedust trail connecting an existing trail to Longwood Lane; one 45-foot long, 8-foot wide steel frame, wood deck bridge; and appropriate drainage improvements, vehicle barriers, and related trail and drainage details.
Valley Crest Park Fairweather Crossing and Trail: Replacement of an existing asphalt stream valley trail, concrete fairweather crossing and related stream bank protection in the Holms Run, Valley Crest Park. Improvements included the replacement of the existing 10' by 20' poured-in-place concrete fairweather stream crossing, the lowering of the existing asphalt trail approaches for a distance of 20' on each side of the fairweather crossing, and the stabilization of the existing stream banks both downstream and upstream of the fairweather crossing. Services provided included design and administration of plan and document preparation; reconnaissance and field investigation of the site; preparation of base maps; preparation of construction cost estimates; and bidding and construction administration services.
