Martin State Airport Taxiway F and Tower, Baltimore, MD
The proposed project is located at MAA's Martin State Airport located in Baltimore County. The project involves the extension of Taxiway "F" and the proposed new tower. A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. provided Stormwater Management and Erosion and Sediment Control, and drainage design. Stormwater Management follows the requirements of the Martin State Airport Master Plan approved by MDE on 2004 (MDE no. 00-SF-0000).
Specific scope of services included the following:
- Prepare drainage area mapping and develop hydrology and hydraulic computations to determine SWM requirements.
- Coordinate with MDE on preliminary SWM requirements.
- Address preliminary drainage of closed drainage system and culvert capacities.
- Prepare preliminary plans showing size, type, and location of proposed facilities.
- Determine discharges using the rational method for the 5-year storm event based upon FAA regulations. Size culvert based upon Baltimore County's requirements to pass required discharges. Prepare 30% plans, quantities, and cost estimate.
- Provide Stormwater management submittal to MDE for review.
- Complete plan view with existing topography, utilities and features.
- Show proposed storm drain and drainage improvements and grading and disposition of existing features (taxiways, runways, aprons, buildings, etc.) within the construction area.
- Provide plans, profiles and details of the proposed open and closed drainage systems.
- Prepare SWM grading plans, profiles, sections, and details.
- Revise SWM report incorporating MDE comments.
- Prepare Erosion and Sediment Control plans, details, notes, and sequencing.
- Submit revised SWM report and SWM Erosion and Sediment Control Plans to MDE for review and approval.
- Submit drainage improvements to Baltimore County DPW for approval.
- Prepare quantities.
- Prepare special provisions.
- Address comments from MAA, MDE and Baltimore County DPWT.
- Finalize special provision specifications and construction quantities.
Also provided subsurface utility engineering for associated pavement improvements at Martin State.
