South Germantown Soccerplex, Germantown, MD

The development of the South Germantown Recreation Park was accomplished by a public/private partnership between the Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission and the Maryland Soccer Foundation. The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission retained A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) to provide design, prepare construction documents, and participate in construction and post-construction activities at the South Germantown Recreation Park.

The project included the construction of:

  • Adventure playground
  • Group picnic area
  • Three comfort stations
  • Four picnic shelters
  • Two volleyball courts
  • Three horseshoe courts
  • Associated parking for 600 cars
  • Access Roads
  • Associated utilities
  • Restrooms and Sanitary Pump Station

The specific scope of services provided by AMT included:

  • Preparation of project site planting, layout and grading plan
  • Preparation of adventure playground site, equipment, planting, layout and grading plan
  • Preparation of cost estimates
  • Preparation of drainage and stormwater management plans
  • Preparation of Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission utility plans
  • Preparation of an erosion/sediment control plan
  • Preparation of landscape, site, playground, and pavement details
