Landscape Architect

Seeking a highly motivated, mid-level landscape architect to join our Landscape Architecture & Ecosystem Services Division in our Rockville, MD headquarters office. The successful candidate will provide design, digital, permitting, and project management support for our engineering and landscape architecture projects. Opportunities include landscape and hardscape design, site/urban design and grading, state and federal permit application preparation, environmental field surveys and assessments, stream/site restoration planning and design, and business development to local, state, and federal agencies as well as private developers. Candidate experience should include landscape/hardscape design, natural resource inventories, forest and tree conservation planning, wetland delineation, familiarity with permitting processes at the local, state, and federal agencies, and project management with a strong preference for the Mid-Atlantic region (MD, DC, VA). The work environment for this position is primarily in the office with occasional time in the field for environmental surveys and site visits.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture from and LAAB accredited school.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in the landscape architecture field.
  • Proficiency with: AutoCAD 2010 and later, LandFX, Adobe Suite, Sketch-Up, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to keep track of multiple projects, deadlines, and clients.
  • Experience with and advanced knowledge of plant materials, horticultural practices, and planting design.
  • Experience with and advanced knowledge of construction materials, detailing, and documentation.
  • Experience with and advanced knowledge of environmental survey and permitting methodologies and processes.
Preferred Attributes:
  • RLA (MD, VA, NC, & DE and/or ability to gain reciprocity in the same) or in the process of completing the LARE.
  • Proficiency in hand drawing and rendering.
  • Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture or related field.
  • ISA Certified Arborist
  • LEED Certification
  • NEPA preparation/compliance experience.
